Newbie here. I've been searching the site and think I know what I have, but want to confirm it. I think I have a 1924 Ithaca Flues Grade 1 12ga. Can you confirm this from the pics below? I made them small to conform to the 35k pic size. Hope I was successful and that you can see them ok.

It is a grade 1 Flues- made from about 1906 to 1924-- I don't have a sn chart at hand- but if the extractor forearm (snap-off- no latch) does not have an extra machine screw to anchor the forearm iron, it usually means pre-1915 era. Check for short chambers, and receiver cracking- Flues were black powder era guns-- The later NID's are A-OK-- RWTF

The "Other Useful Information" serial number list on the home page here says 355XXX is 1921...Geo

Man, you guys are quick! The serial # is tough to see, but it starts with 385xxx so that's where I came up with it being a 1924 year. The forearm does have a single machine screw that holds it on.

It is definitely not in pristine condition. What kind of value do these guns have? I can post more pics if I need too. I inherited it and it has no sentimental value. Was thinking of trading it for a Westernfield 500 12 ga in decent shape.

Check for barrel length, and choke markings on the barrel flats- Ithaca used a numerical code- 1 for imp. cyl., 2 for mod., 3 for imp. mod. and 4 means full choke- usually on 12 gauge Ithacas w/28 and also 30" barrels, you w8ill usually find 2 & 4-- mod. and full- But NOt always-

Thanks Skeettx. I tried to get the pics to show up in my post but couldn't figure it out.

Yep, 2 & 4, but the barrels measure 26".

A trade for a Miroku made Western Field model 500 would be an upgrade IMHO...Geo

I would agree.

Better hurry, before the guy with the Miroku comes to his senses...

Best,

Don't need anymore double barrels. I also inherited a Pirazzi imported by Ithaca and another Pirazzi with 410, 20, and 28ga tubes.

So I'm guessing the Flues is not particularly valuable since it is not in a pristine condition? The stock has been extended on it, the bluing is pretty worn, and there's a little piece of the stock missing just below the barrel release lever (not sure of the technical name).

I just got the Miroku reference. The Westernfield I was thinking of trading for was made by Mossberg. It's basically a copy of the Mossberg 500 pump action shotgun made for Montgomery Ward.

Your gun is probably only worth $300...Geo

Although the Miroku-made Charles Daly sxs were Model 500's, I don't think they used that model # on the sxs they made for Montgomery Ward. The one I owned--essentially the same gun as a Daly 500 with a few minor differences--was marked Model 351-A.

Larry, the Western Field 20ga Miroku I have is different looking from the other model 500's I have (a Daly, and a british market Miroku). It is marked Western Field Model 328 EMJ and is marked Miroku on the bottom of the frame as well of the action flats. I do not find any Miroku model marking. The forend and stock on the Western Field are shaped differently though it is still a semi-beavertail. Metal all looks the same to me as the model 500s..Geo
