I would like to make the claw mounts that i need for my drilling so i can fit a scope to it. It is my understanding that i have the Triebel style mounts and i need some pics of the bases and the locking mechanism if anyone has them. I can only find one pics when do do an internet search. I am really looking for the details of the mechanical rear base catch.

German mounts can be big bucks. You may want to search the bay for German scopes if you figure out what you need. I have found a couple over the years that could be used for what I had. Good luck

I can share pics of what I have. My 9.3x72r double has Triebel bases and I’ve found the claw mounts for this system, albeit not for my gun.

Yes, Please Share.

I am not a machinist but i have been known to make "things". In my spare time i have been working on "prototyping" the rear base and i have run into a few issues that have raised questions. I am sure an experienced machinist or someone with CAD and a CNC could knock out an entire base in about an hour. I cant, i have to learn as i go and any pics you can share would help.

Here are pics of the rear mount for the Triebel system that has the spring on the rings vs the mounts permanently connected to the rifle. The square lug on the side of the rings, above the claw and plunger mechanism, is for windage adjustments.

More pics, still only of the rear component, as the front is like other claw mounts. The knurled surface faces the muzzles and when depressed by pulling rearwards to the butt, the claws in the rear pull back, so the scope can pivot up by the rear and come out of both rear and front bases. The rifle I hope to one day fit these to is the the double rifle on the right at bottom. (Both of these double rifles were retailed by Weisgerber. The one on left is a Merkel.)

And since we're looking at the rifles, here are a few more of those. The Merkel (without mounts) is from 1931 and is 8x57R. The 9.3x72r double only bears its retailers' name, Weisgerber, and is also of a very high build standard. The Merkel is a great shooter with factory ammo. The 9.3x72r double is coming along. It's been a bit more complicated as it was made prior to the standardization of the 9.3x72r chamber in 1909, so it is tight and fully sized brass using standard dies won't fit. I don't want to touch up the chambers, although that would simplify things. So in the meantime I have been wrapping brass with tape to size it down further. I haven't tried using shims under the brass in the shellholder yet, but that would be simpler if it works.

I haven't hunted with either yet.

Thank you so much! The pics answered some questions i had on how they are constructed.

Those are two Beautiful guns. Have you tried contacting CH4D to see about custom dies for the 9.3? I think they will take a chamber cast and make a die to the cast.

I will keep you updated on my attempt at making the mounts. It will be a while though, i picked up a couple of project guns to keep me occupied.

„Raschsche Karreegravierung“ or “Rasch’s squares engraving”

Rasch exclusively used an engraver, or family of engravers, from Herzberg, once a unique gun-making centre that was lost to the ravages of time and mechanization.
