Can anyone tell me where I can find red rubber recoil pads without pre-positioned screw holes?

Thanks in advance, Dean

The Galazan thin hard pads come in red, and there are screw holes in the backing plate, but no holes in the pad face. That means you can put the screws wherever you want them.

Thanks Replacement, I would prefer to have a thicker soft(er) pad.

How about the Pachmayr Old English, 1" in red, P/N 01423?

I don't have one handy, but it looks like they may not be predrilled.

I think the Old English pad is predrilled, but has slits in the face of the pad that sort of close after the screw head goes through it. I do think one could make a new screw hold with a matching "slit" .

My problem is this: I have shortened the stock on a small frame 28 gauge shotgun for my wife so the stock now measures only 4" from heel to toe and of all the pads I have checked, the Period Correct pad from Galazan's has pre-positioned holes the closest of any at 3 1/4" which is dangerously close to the edges of the wood, not to mention the screw hole plug or scar in the pad is likely to be at the very end of the pad at the toe if the screw at the heel is positioned properly.

Thanks for any help you can offer. Dean

Glue it on, if there is no stock bolt to worry about. It can be removed with a sharp, thin knife blade withoit damaging the pad, you cut the glue. I used Acraglas Gel as it was all I had in the glue line

I can't help on the red color but Kick Eez offers one in black that will work. It is designed for shortened stocks. Holes are 2 3/4" apart. 15/16 thick. Called junior model. I use them on really shortened stocks.

Geez, it sounds like you shortened the stock before you procured the pad. Exactly how thick do you want the pad and its spacer to be (total pad, excluding the wood)? Are you opposed to a used pad removed from another gun? Does the pad have to be red? How wide do you want it to be? Do you have a preferred screw spacing (I'm thinking 2.5" to 2.75")?

You may want to consider a leather covered pad. Would look appropriate on a DHE Repro 28.

Hmmm, I never even thought of glueing it on. Thanks.

I'll check Kick Eez to see if they have a red one.

Replacement, I haven't cut the stock yet but that dimension is about what I expect to find when I do cut it. I would prefer red just for appearance sake and I am not against a good condition used pad and I'm thinking 3/4" - 1" including the black spacer (or base). Right, 2.5" - 2.75" is about what I was thinking too but a leather covered pad, properly done, is maybe a bit more costly than I had hoped to spend on the project. Iknow, I know. . . nothing's too good for the little lady, but. . .
