I'm the proud new owner of a Belgium built Jones Underlever 16 gauge hammer gun courtesy of Mark Larson. It has the soldered on swivel base on the barrel but some time in it's life the swivel was ground off mad leaving just the smooth base. I've grown fond of slings on my sxs's and would like to replace it. To me the easy fix would be to "steal" a barrel swivel off of one of my Husky Model 20's. They have a base attached with two screws & I have a local gunsmith who says he can drill the under rib (is that what it's called?). Or should I look for a gunsmith who can take the old base off and solder on a new base & swivel (if I can find one)? Opinions, comments,& suggestions welcomed. Oh by the way here's a pic of the little beauty smile.

Thanks for looking.
Rick

Either will work but solder is less invasive. NECG sell both styles. I think I sold all my old take offs but I might have a few floating around. I would need to look.

Can your gunsmith not drill and tap the original base to fit the swivel to? I think that's how i would do it because that way its removable when you don't want it and it doesn't require heating or re soldiering which potentially could affect the rib.. i don't know.

Pretty gun though!

I'd send that to JJ Perodeau. I think he can make it look like it was born with a swivel and I know he has a couple in his spare parts bin that he just took off my Berretta. The Berretta looks like it never even ever heard of such a thing as a swivel now. JJ is very talented.
