I have bought guns from Steve and also concur with others' posts - straightforward, willing to bargain, no BS quotient to wade through on the particular gun you are interested in, and he has always asked me, "What do YOU want to do?" I wish the rest of some of these characters we have to endure had his business sense and negotiating style. I will be buying more guns from him, for sure. KBM

And I'll never forget that hat he gave me. Never bought a gun from him. Someone always gets there first. The stock on the .410 Purdey was way too high, but he did offer to shave it down without charging me. Bill Murphy

I've had one dealing with Steve and based on it from my perspective his word is "his word" and his integrity beyond reproach.

Bought a Md. 21 from Steve. Great guy to deal with. Gun was what he said it was, shipped it well protected, followed up after purchase. Everything a good gun dealer should be.

Yes, much better question then: 'what can I do TO you'!

Am I missing something here? I have never done a deal with him and I would certainly trust the voices here........but his prices seem really steep sometimes.

Does one expect to pay a large premium for an honest description of an item?

Maybe it's just me.

Just wondering,

They are asking prices, and you don't have to buy them. :-)

I agree 775. He is probably good to deal with....but it sure seems hard to buy a gun in the first place with prices like that. I've seen a few guns he has that I would have liked to own but I never bothered picking up the phone as his asking price is out of touch with reality. If his price is out of touch, I figure the rest of him must be too.

Gotta throw in my two cents. I have never bought from him. However, within the last two of years, a couple of guns that I owned and traded back to Thad Scott ended up on Steve Barnett's site. His asking prices were thousands over what I paid Thad. With that kind of profit, I think you can extend yourself. I couldn't afford to buy from him, but if I'm selling on consignment, "he is The Man."

Regards,

Max
