At the Vegas show last year, I was surprized to see an Italian shotgun cleaning kit for $14,995. It looked about the same quality as one Tony Galazan has for about $500, but then I am a heathen when it comes to quality of this kind. For those on the cheap, they had a downgraded one for only $8995.

I'll take two, please. They're for the former hedge fund manager who used to have everything.

The only rationalization I can make here for the price is they come with an Italian babe to push the patches thru that looks like Sophia Loren of about 30 years ago.
Then again Ferrari routine maintenance runs around $1500.

For $15k you can pay a qualified gunsmith to clean your gun many many times.

That's like buying a $30k carwash sponge and bucket.

...for people that have run out of things to spend money on.

You just lost your job as the CEO of Fannie Mae as a result of the meltdown. You get your fifty million severance package and go on a shopping spree. You buy a $200,000 Fabbri. What is a $15,000 cleaning kit. And of course you are a financial genius.

Best,

Mike

After you use a $15k cleaning kit and get it all dirty, what's it worth, about $2k?

As usual Henrique
We absolutely need pictures in order to do an appropriate evaluation here.

I haven't visited him in at least 10 years, but there used to be a gunsmith in Rehobeth, Massachusetts, named Lou Alessandri, who built cleaning kits which were art forms unto themselves. Lou kept a photo in the shop of he and GHW Bush, reclining on the lawn at the Bush estate in Kennebunkport, ME, the day that Lou presented one of his most elaborate kits to Bush senior.

Lou built very fine double rifles as well, many in his proprietary .750 calibre. I'd like to know if he's still around as he was skilled, interesting, and very willing to take the time to share his knowledge and skills. When Lou found out that I was in the process of building a 12-bore, side by side rifle, he was so enthusiastic about the project that he GAVE me a top rib, complete with integral quarter rib and front sight ramp. His pride and joy was a Ferrari Mille Milia, and if he took a shine to you, Lou would take you out to the garage and start it up. The cams in those things were so squirrely that that car was jumping up and down at an idle, like a Lab when you take a shotgun off the wall!

I am SO ashamed of you guys being so cheap...these are FABBRI cleaning kits! I am sure there are 3-4 of them at Glenthorne Manor.

Henrique,

She does look like a John Dickson round body side lever! If she'd hold one in her hands I wouldn't know what to choose.
