So that's a magazine rifle with a single shot shotgun underneath?

Over the years I've seen maybe three or four of these. One day a man here in town brought in a very nice one into the gunshop I was in at the time for show-and-tell. It was very well built and in great shape.

GGCA Vol. 27 at page 20 “The action is a typical 8mm Mauser Model 98 with the standard wing safety, a hand detachable floorplate with take-down lever, a trigger guard like those on German shotguns and with two triggers. The front trigger can be pushed forward and become a hair trigger. The rear trigger is connected by a long link to the firing mechanism for the shotgun barrel that is located in front of the magazine box. The firing mechanism is very compact, has a coil spring and is cocked when the barrel is swung out to the side for extraction of the fired case and for reloading. The safety lever for this firing mechanism is conveniently located right behind the exposed chamber.
A very nice feature on the gun is Oberhammer’s patented flip up adjustable aperture rear sight behind the tang of the action. A toggle mechanism allows quick erection of the sight. The 16 Ga. Shotgun barrel is held by two brackets that wrap around the rifle barrel and allow it to be unlocked with a husky lever that folds against the left side of the gun and folds out and turned to the right, exposing the chamber for reloading. As the barrel reaches the opened position, the empty shell is extracted slightly so that it can easily be pulled out by hand.”

The advert looks like that of August Stukenbrok of Einbeck, where the bore is noted as "Kal. 16". Oberhammer's folding aperture sight is patent #59021 of 1891. I think the longarm falls under D.R.G.M. #62088 of the 13th of July of 1896.
Peter Oberhammer of Munchen was born in 1838 in Bruneck-Trento where he served an apprenticeship in Innichen-Trento as well as Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna and I would guess this is where the Austrian influence on his examples can be traced. He became a master 24 years later in 1872 and founded his business in Munchen and at some point in 1871 or 1872 worked for Franz Xavier Baader, which may have been the draw to Munchen. His son Ludwig Oberhammer was born in 1875 and would have been a master by 1898 or 1899 after serving an apprentice or journeyman program at Carl Stiegele. I'll have to check my notes but I'm pretty sure he served some time a Miller & Greiss. Ludwig Oberhammer departed this world in 1963. There was also a strong connection to J.P. Sauer as P. Oberhammer, Munchen was the Sauer representative in Munchen. Peter and Ludwig were very inventive and they hold several patents.

Raimey,
That's not an advertisement I scanned it out of Richard Mahrholdt's Waffen-Lexikon 1937.

Michael:
Thanks for the correction and with Richard Mahrholdt, there seems to be just a few others who peddled the "Mauser combo" like Otto Bock of Berlin and August Stukenbrok of Einbeck. Oberhammer had to be the link for the Austrian makers/firearms merchants.

How heavy are these? Heavier than a standard SxSxR drilling?
