Dave, I have to say after ordering a back order of the journal I'm about to subscribe, they are stunningly presented and superby edited. Bravo!
Keep up the superb work. From an Englishman in the UK, shame we don't have something as this good over here.
Regards, Tony

Tony,
You should also consider ordering both the first edition as well as the second edition of the Double Gun Index and Reader.

If the DGJ is hard to access in the UK, I wonder how much it would cost to ship a set to the UK? Anyone know?

Dean, I had one taker, but someone had advertised a widow's set for way less than my price and I told the guy to buy that set. No way I could have taken that guy's money when I knew the other set was out there. Mine are still for sale for $1500 because they have all the slip cases and indexes and the later ones are in plastic.

If you don't mind me asking what happened to 2009?
Anyway, I'd like to buy both 2010 copies...how much is it to the UK. Because I can't see anything on the website.
cheers T

Call them on the phone. They man the phones at all business hours and are very pleasant to deal with. By the way, who has gotten their Summer 2010 issue? I have not gotten mine.

I've had my Summer 2010 DGJ for over a week now. I've already read it - is it time for the Fall 2010 issue yet?

I've had my summer issue for several weeks. I am lucky as DGJ HQ sends mine along in the HOV lane!
The whole idea behind the E-version (flip book/PDF) is that the International Double Gun enthusiasts may opt to buy electronically to either supplement their printed version or in some cases replace it.
Typically the international subscribers get knackered by the long delivery times.
In addition to alleviating some long lead delivery misses; We are trying to bring some young people into the fray with a digital version that may be more in-line with their current media viewing preferences.

Good Thinking! Dave, who developed the E-version of DGJ? Was it you? Dan and Joanna are great people to work with. Dean

We had been doing a PDF only version in a hap-hazard manner for some time.
The Flip-Book is a new thing was the brain child of Ed Rigdon.
Ed is the guy who works the publishing magic for Daniel and Joanna...He is a nice guy and pretty sharp.
I am confident we will continue this effort as it seems to be an effective way to expose more potential subscribers to the publication.

I can't read DGJ The desire to own one of the beauties is so great it drived tears into my eyes, make my ears hear strange sounds and voices, and generally blows my mind and make me want to do things you don't want to discuss with strangers... so I can't get past the first 7 or 8 pages ... OK, busting a bank is not an option, you can't own guns if you have a record here... so lemme go get some work now!

I used to subscribe. To renew or take out a subscription in the UK is more difficult to do than to cap an oil well in The Gulf. But then of course both things are being done by Americans. Oops I sound just like Homeless, didn't know he was infectious. We have Fieldsports here in the UK which is without doubt the finest sports journal. But the DGJ is a very nice book for the coffee table.

Salopian, are we able to access your "finest sports journal" on the Internet so that we may make our own judgement?

Dave,
So far I have read my collection more than two times, rediscovering themes or looking articles from a new angle or with some more knowledge. Great work and good point of departure for many shotgun issues.
I have almost the whole collection (at some trouble and expense), but Vol. II and one or two other issues are missing, I wonder if there is a way of obtaining those issues, electronically or otherwise. What do you think I can do about this?

The E-edition seems to be a viable alternative, good job. A Teaser for sure.

A heads up on old DGJ issues....At this time there is no plan to resurrect any old issues in a digital format.
The original print house DGJ used does not have any of the electronic files and they would have to be a complete re-do!
The older issues are going to become more scarce as time marches on so hang on to them!

I agree with all the nice things said about DGJ BUT... in the words of the song"I can't get no satisfaction..." My only problem is that I can't get the XXI slip case.
I realize with the economy booming and good people being hard to hire and demand for everything being out of sight thanks to the economic genius of our President, that there will be shortages and delays but mine has been on order since last November. Several phone calls have not produced anything but a polite conversation. Has anyone else gotten one? How do you maintain a file for the E version? Best Regards to All Gene

To the best of my knowledge the latest slips are still MIA.
They are on order at DGJ HQ.
Last I heard they will materialize late this Fall.

I was just thinking to myself the other day, how nice it would be to have the DGJ on my Ipad... I travel extensively for work and while a great publication, I usually only carry one with me at a time b/c they are heavy and I don't really trust them to checked luggage, sometime I am gone for weeks and can usually get through an entire mag well before my trip is over... plus with an electronic version... I can do a keyword search, click and email advertisers, etc etc etc... sure seems a win/win... and I think the general consensus would be that most would still want the hard copy as well... I know I do...
I really wish the old versions would be recreated but understand it would take substantial work... maybe they could possibly outsource it to cheap young computer literate labor
Like it or not, e-literature is the way of the future...

Talk about eye candy. I will be heading to Barnes & Noble, this Thursday night, in Fair Lakes, Virginia, to see if the have the latest edition, along with Shooting Sportsman. I live for these two publications. Pure reading enjoyment, along with enjoying the fantastic photography.

I used to buy single copies for myself back in the early 90's then got away from them but always browsed through them at my local Barnes & Noble. Just before Christmas I was able to purchase 51 consecutive volumes spanning from 1997 through 2009 at a very reasonable price. Now that they will no longer be available in stores my subscription is in the mail!
The only downside to all this is that my stocks of single batch bourbons are dwindling due to the neccessity of refreshment while reading.

Nice read....Ask Sherman Bell if he could maybe use a wooden duck in his pictures instead of that plastic thing on page 25.

Spring 2010 is online for preview as are a couple of pages from older issues.
The following E-versions are available for purchase in PDF format:
DGJ - Winter 2007 DGJ - Autumn 2007 DGJ - Spring 2007 DGJ - Spring 2008 DGJ - Spring 2010 DGJ - Summer 2010 DGJ - Winter 2010
I did find a couple pages where I neglected to update the available list and have since corrected those pages. I suspect you may have been looking at one of them...If you see another page missing the info please let me know.
Thank you, Dave Weber

Dave, I know this presupposes adequate help, but why don't you put them all up in e-format. It would be a help to those of us who have missed issues way back.
