I did a little side by side comparison not the same rifle but could be the same maker.

I revise my SWAG. I think the first and third photos are definitely the same rifle but not the middle one. Look at the wood at the back of the loading port where it sweeps upwards just immediately in front of the lyman sight.

Also the flute on the nose comb might be a bit different - not so sure of that.

It is a fun detective game to be sure.

Simply awesome.

Gives me a mark to shoot for, but unfortunately I'm not sure I'll be up to the job (rueful grin).

Good buy, Michael!

Mr. Petrov

I like everything about that rifle & especially the low mounted long eye relief Noske.

It makes me think that we really haven't progressed all that much
in fine sporting rifle design since the 1930's & in some respects we have regressed. Nothing like getting the scope down low as possible.

Thanks guys, it's a keeper.

I guess I need to get back to seeing if I can find anything on Mr. Hutton.

He worked at Griffin & Howe until Whelen got him away to work at National Gunshop then Parker-Whelen.

About all I know is that he learned the trade by apprenticeship in Scotland.

Anyone have anything to offer on John Hutton I'm all ears.

Great find Michael, glad you were able to get it. Looking forward to learning more about Mr. Hutton.
