New to this site. Looking for previous threads on shooting Damascus barrels. Cannot find any by clicking on search here.
Please advise.
Thank you

Yes, yes, yes you may shoot Damascus barrels that are of sufficient minimum barrel wall thickness with loads of the appropriate maximum pressure. How much pressure? That will depend on barrel wall thickness such as no more than 6000 psi for a light gun with thin barrels or barrels with pitting. Some heavy guns with thick Damascus barrels will digest modern factory loads with no ill effects. These heavy guns are the exception of course.

Have your gun checked and barrel wall thickness measured before you load up! Barrel pitting may be too deep to safely shoot a gun with any loads. Lack of pitting may be perfect bores as the gun left the factory or previously pitted barrels which were honed to remove the metal that previously surrounded the pits. The bores in this case may be too thin to shoot...

I have an English barrel wall thickness gauge. If you are near Charlotte, NC, I'll be happy to measure them.

Same here in Michigan. Come to the Lapeer SxS shoot on 17 August and I'll measure your gun's MBWT!

Well I did not want to ask a question that had probably been addressed a hundred times here.
I have a Parker Trojan 12ga words "DAMASCUS STEEL" stamped on the barrel. Just trying to figure out if I can shoot it or not.
I have a reloading press so I can roll my own.
Thank you for your help.

Are you sure it is a Trojan? I did not think any were made with damascus.

Wannago,

I left Az in 1986 for NC. I can help if we show up at the same place. William Larken & Moore is in Scotsdale. They are well qualified to help you.

Joe
