I have this Zoli Z Extra dating back to 2007 according to the barrel marks. Using it mainly for sporting clays and have been happy with it lately. Any reviews of this gun? Any users out there? Build quality, swing mechanics all seems fine to me but would like to hear your opinions. Bore diameter is 18.6 but throws nice tight patterns with 1/4 chokes.

I've been shooting a 28-gauge Zoli Pernice for over two years and have nothing but praise for the gun. There are a number of reviews on the web, and Bruce Buck wrote a review of the Expedition for Shooting Sportsman a few years back.

A discussion on "mid-tier" O/U's came up on another forum recently and one keen observer wrote the following: "The difference between a $2K Beretta 686 and a $9K Beretta 687EELL is bling. If engraving and pretty wood make you shoot better, good for you, but the overall design and materials of those guns are identical. It's pretty much the same for Rizzini, CG, Browning, etc.: Take the same well-proven designs and adapt them to the various shooting disciplines and style of the day. The Zoli is a bit different, however. For a "mid-priced" gun (less than a Perazzi, anyway), you get a significant jump in engineering: Boss lock-up, detachable trigger group (that is beautifully finished), and silver soldered barrels (that have a lifetime warranty against rib separation.) Those factors seem to put Zoli in a segment of its own. However, their retail prices have been creeping closer to P-guns, so the distinction may be shrinking. Prices for used Zoli Z-Guns, Kronos, Expeditions, and Pernices (when you can find one) are often a steal for the quality of gun that you get."

Very nice guns. Several of my shooting buddies shoot Zoli’s and they all love them. I shoot a Perazzi, but would be happy with a Z-gun. The Z-gun may be the best bang for the buck of all for an O/U sporting clays gun.
