Reassembling a Remington 1894. It’s been apart for a while, and the disassembly pictures have been lost.
I have two forked springs in the parts collection: one is the trigger spring, but what is the other one for that looks like it? One has thicker legs than the other, the otherwise they are the same. There is a “safety plunger spring” listed on Numrich, but no corresponding picture.

If you could post a picture that would help. Dig around a bit on the web I know there is a parts picture someplace I just don't remember where. It's not a schematic, just drawings of the parts and names. Maybe the Remington collectors site.
I've been looking around. Found a few parts lists, and a disassembly slideshow from a fellow in Alaska. There is only one spring like this cited in the documentation.
As weird as it is, I guess I placed an extra part in the container, but can't figure out why I would have done that.

If the two springs are the same and one is not for the safety, maybe a previous owner thought the trigger spring wasn't strong enough and added another on top of it. Just a thought.

You don't have another cigar box w/a disassembled 1894 Remington in it do you?,,Maybe that one needs a trigger spring.
The 1894 trigger spring units are kind of known for their less than perfect symmetry when it comes to the width of the two attached arms,,one each to power each of the triggers.
Some are way too wide,,some are split with one narrow and one wide leaf. Some are just fine.
An A Grade I have here now has one of the springs with the extra wide leaf on the left trigger side. Works just fine, just looks a bit odd (I guess).
Nobody sees it anyway except us.
Safety Plunger Spring?,,don't know about that one on a 1894. They use the same type safety spring as a Fox or PArker,,a thin flat spring w/a crimp in it so the safety snaps over it by way of the cross pin. Secured to the underside of the upper tang w/a small screw.
I've got a DE grade here but it's mostly still together. I don't recall the safety being any different inside it though when I had it apart.
