Looking at an early pre war Sauer with replacement barrels. The top of the barrels is stamped with “ Krupp Laufstaul” only , no “Essen” The flats appear to be proofed 3/36. Are these Sauer sourced Krupp barrels or procured through another provider ?
Thank you for any information.
Best regards,
JBP

The S in a Chevron near the lower rib & the SuS stamp points to a set of Sauer finished tubes being barrel blanks sourced from Liège. Almost all run of the mill Krupp Stahl tubes began life as bar stock in Liège.

Sauer sourced all(almost all) their blanks from Liege.

The bulk of the German rough bored fluid steel tubes were rolled in Liège and Sauer sought protection in Beligum for their Wildmann trademark from 1896 forward.

I'm really not certain where the bar stock for 3 Ringe & NIchtROstenden STAhl was sent to convert it into rough bored tubes but I would assume it was Liège.
