A friend brought a Hammergun over for me to look at and see if I could come up with any information on the maker. I don;t know much, so I'm asking you guys for help. I'll try to post some pictures, alwaysa challange for my old brain.
The gun is well fit and finished. Nice English Walnut, with 24 line checkering pattern, very minor use marks. Metal shows no wear. Barrel is 30", mirror bright, .721", with 003" & .029" choke. Stamping on barrel reads "FLUSS STAHL above the bird with wing extended, and KRUPP ESSEN below. I don' see a date stamp on the flats, (before 1924?). Under the toplever in a circle are the letters S P I? Now I'll try posting pictures via Binko method.

Jerry,

The barrels have a Krupp mark, on the underside I also see what seems to be a "?ssen" which I believe to be Janssen. On the tang I can see SPI.

In 1898 Neumann Freres, Janssen fils & Cie, and F. Dumoulin & Cie formed Syndicat des Pieces Interchangables. This was done to standardize the manufacturing tolerances of sporting arms. Shortly after forming, they turned it over to Fabrique Nationale. Not surprising as many of them had been founders of FN.

The ?ssen mark Pete references would be Essen, in Westfalia, Germany, where Krupp was located. This would indicate at least the tubes were sourced from Essen. The action as well could have been from Germany and proofed in Belgium, this was not as uncommmon as you might think.
