I have a Merkel 1620 set with maker's case I bought new in 2003. We are in the process of moving and I'm thinking of selling this and my 28b 280 since I haven't shot either in years. The 1620 slipped out of the case at my club several years ago and took a chip out of the stock. I sent it to Jim Greenwood who did a very nice repair and added a recoil pad, but the gun is obviously no longer original. The 16 gauge barrels have one round of clays out of them and the 20s maybe 300 rounds.
The 280 (single trigger) has been shot at one round of clays and has a couple handling marks in the stock from my clumsiness while cleaning after getting home that day.
So, how much should these issues impact the price? Also, how do I post pics? I'm not very clever at this...
Thanks.
Edit: I hope this links to pics...

I think the modification and repair will cost you about $500 in value; the normal wear and small bumps are very minor, and I don't think will affect the value (it's a used gun, not a new one). The big hit is the repair, though it's clearly well done. Factory originality is not a big deal with these guns.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't had this gun out of the safe in a couple years until I took the pics the other day. I got Jim Greenwood's name from a profile in Shooting Sportsman magazine a couple years ago and he did an incredible job at a very reasonable price. I have never sold anything, but we are in the process of moving from two homes into one and I'll be down a gun safe for a while. Since both safes are full, I'm thinking of recycling some stuff. I'm primarily a bowhunter and don't shoot guns much anymore. I was surprised how good this little gun felt in my hands. I don't think have shot it since 2005. I do maybe 3 or 4 rounds of clays a year and have been using my Gold Label and RBL 12. If I don't sell it, I'm definitely going to start shooting it again. I may post it and the 280 (which I never shoot) here in a while...
