Since I was cleaning the C. Moore rifle I got this out to do the same. About the same time period but with a single set trigger. Both have mint bores but do appear to have been fired.

Sweet. That bad boy looks like it just needs a good cleaning, wood and metal. Nothing harsh, just a light detail. Bet there's a nicer stick of wood in there than the pics indicate. How about some targets??

There is an appearance of nicely figured wood under that dark finish, but I will leave it to some future custodian to clean it. I am content to occasionally wipe it down. I don't shoot these really old guns. I worry that the stock will crack. I live in Nevada and wood tends to get dry and brittle here. Today I think the relative humidity is about 12%.

Nice rifle, is this the same D. Leonard from Birmingham who became D. Leonard & Sons and his son Samuel worked in America?

I believe it is, but since so much of their work bears someone else's name I can't prove it. Solid Birmingham proofs.

Maybe linked to Harry Leonard who crafted some beautiful shotguns and rifles for W J Jeffery?

No matter, I really want this rifle, blackpowder is in my blood.
