Anybody know if P. Webley ever produced military rifles for France or made conversions of French military actions?

Recently saw a single shot bolt action rifle with Webley markings that appeared to be either a Chassepot rifle or a conversion of a Chassepot to 11mm Gras. Didn't get a good look but the owner wanted to know if it was an original product of P. Webley, or something they had made on a French action and marked with their name. Bad condition; found in the woods on a bear hunt in Canada.

Any info for him greatly appreciated.

Any chance of getting a picture of that gun ? The proof markings if there are any left, would give a good clue.

Most of the Gras rifle conversions done in England were by Braendlin, but I suppose its possible Webley did some as well.
