I recently acquired a nice Husqvarna hammerless boxlock Model 350 SxS in 12 gauge. I'm guessing it is post-WWII. Good case color remaining, and 85% original finish.

It was choked F&F, so I had my gunsmith open it to IC & MOD, which better meets my upland needs.

We miked the barrels and the right is .724" and the left is .720". Seems rather tight, and was also surprised at the .004" difference between the two. It shoots fine, and no issues. I'll get around to patterning it one of these days.

Metric bores are nominally designated to 0.1 mm, which is 0.004 in. I don't know what their protocol is for translating that to production tolerances.

18.4 mm would be a standard bore for a European gun of that era

Nominal diameter for a 12 gauge is .729" or 18.52mm. the .724" & .720" bores would convert to approximately 18.4mm & 18.3mm respectfully.

Jerry, I have a Huskie SN list. Post-WWII would start at about 193,000.

In my collection of American doubles, I have 12-gauge guns with bores as tight as .708" (Fox Gun Co., Balto., MD., U.S.A.) to an 1889 vintage Parker Bros. with bores of .757". I've also got a 10-gauge Baker $100 Pigeon Gun with bores of .750". A lot of trap shooters shoot Stan Baker "Big Bore" barrels that are .800" all the way to the choke.

The 350 was introduced in 1952 to replace the model 615. Approximately 6100 were manufactured between 1952 - 1960. The 234500 serial number represents 1954 production. Like the 615 the letter designation following model will refer to engraving. 350AS demotes A engraving while 350CS notes the C grade engraving. There are a pair of web sites that will give you all the proof marks right down to the individual fitter and finisher. By the way the bores on my 615AS are just as tight measuring .718 & .717.
