Keep us all posted. Isn't the Sabatti sxs slugger available in the US. I think Geno even has one. Randy

Steven Michaels here - I had to get a new login as the old one wouldn't work for some reason and I couldn't get a password sent.
The ATF business with destructive devices would only apply to a non-sporting shotgun - most notably the USAS-12 (think a giant M16) or the Streetsweeper (owned one - worst trigger pull ever, among many other faults). It wouldn't apply to a SxS coach or slug gun, plenty of which are imported by other companies.
I called Beretta gallery, and they mentioned that someone else recently called on the gun (I guess that was you PeteM), and that he was going to look into bringing the gun over. He (can't remember his name) mentioned that the 471 isn't exactly a super seller as is - so he figures that Beretta just didn't bother to send over something that wouldn't sell.
Anyone who's seriously interested and hasn't called Beretta Gallery in NY, I'd ask that you get in contact with them and let them know you're interested. I did mention that it was discussed on the forum. If the pricing is around what the other 470's go for I'm willing to commit ahead of it's arrival. I'd love one based on the 471 but why push my luck. I'm still waiting for my 689 Silver Sable.
Someone's bringing it the Sabatti slug gun in as a Leopard gun, can't remember who.

Steve M,
Very nice. I think you may be correct. If they see enough interest, they will make an effort.
To reach the Beretta Gallery in New York: 214.559.9805 Mon-Sat 10am - 6pm ET
When you call, tell them you want to buy a "471 Silver Hawk Slug gun with the slug rib and iron sights". They do know this gun exists.
If enough people call, we may get Beretta to place a special order.
If you call, simply add a note to this thread. It will help keep it were others might see it.
As for the Sabatti. If you can tell me were to purchase a new one, let me know. I tracked it back to the importer / distributor who said they didn't handle them any more.
Pete

Are the barrels rifled and regulated on this gun ? When I asked they said, "Smooth bore regulated." Pete

Consider group purchase like chaps at Accurate Reloading did for Chapuis double rifles.

Before I ask, please understand I am certainly not trying to be negative. I have always liked the thought of a double slug gun, but really more in line with a Paradox type or bore rifle.
My question is, what is your personal draw to the Beretta slug gun? I doubt that Beretta gallery is going to give anyone a super price on a special order for a small number of specialized guns. Given the normal cost of a volume imported 471 and the cost of sights and regulation, I suspect that the cost will be pretty stiff, maybe around $5k. I know that I waited too long on a 689, many of which I saw trading new at dealers for around $6k, and when I called the Gallery, they wanted over $9k.
The Sabatti is a yoeman gun, but sound mechanically by a decent maker and it is available at $1150. I am one of the people in the group order for the Chapuis at AR. I don't want to publicly give the price that Dale is selling these for, but I will say I am getting the 9.3 with custom stock dimensions, ejectors, tip off rings and a case colored reciever without the chicken scratch engraving for around the street price of a standard 471.
Don't take this as a slam or raining on anyone's parade. Just interested in understanding what the drive for a $500 smoothbore slug gun is to several people.

I'd imagine any actual paradox type or bore rifle in a SxS would be extremely expensive. I'll wait to see what price Beretta sets for their gun (if any) but I'll say that prce on the 689 seems way off (perhaps a Gold Sable?) - I was quoted a price less than half of that.
I like and trust Beretta's guns, and I don't feel the same way about Sabatti. I don't know the group buy price for the Chapuis - but Euroguns lists a 9.3x74 "Progress" for well over $6K. That's far more than the Silver Sable, and I'd rather stake a hunt on the Beretta - though that's mostly because I'm familiar with the 680 series guns.
