Took my wife and sons shooting and an skb sxs would only fire 1 barrel. Then the weatherby orion started doing the same thing. This is a copy of the old skb O/U action. I took the sxs apart and can see no obvious problem. It looks like a mechanical rather than inertia system and doesn't appear dirty or gunked up. What am I missing? My son said this is the world sending me a message that single triggers are bad. Funny I have been looking for a Win 21.

Never had a problem with SKB's other then a O/U doubling and they fixed it. They are inertia trigger. if the loads are too light or you are not holding the gun tight to your shoulder they may not set the second barrel. Take the guns and pull the trigger and then bang them on the carpeted floor pretty hard and try the secon trigger and see if that works. If it doesn't it they both probably just need a clean and strip.
PS. Try a bit heavier load as well.

Estate Factory, no dent in primers. 2nd barrel isn't tripping.

the sxs is definitely inertia and wasn't getting enough resistance to reset. Working with snap caps if I bang it on desk. The O/u is working fine with snap caps and must be mechanical it fires both perfectly.

Would I be wrong in assuming an inertia gun that was not tripping might benefit from a little light oil on those parts too?

You didn’t happen to put a squishy recoil pad of the SXS, did you?
Been there, done that. If you give it 20 years or so, the recoil pad will harden up and the trigger will start working again.
Ammo is the bugaboo of late, however. Hard grease, too.
Best, Ted

I have found an ultrasonic cleaner to be the single trigger double gun owner's best friend.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

double guns should have two triggers. one for each barrel. no selector needed...
even the perverted ones with the barrels soldered on top of each other...
keep it simple and keep it safe...
