I am sure that A. Schüler was a descendent of the August Gottlieb Schüler(1819 -1906) and the concern >>Gewehrfabrik August Schüler<< was founded in 1835 when August Gottlieb Schüler had 16 years, so he was still an apprentice. Then there were Richard Schüler and Robert Schüler(1873-1941), both of Köln. Much more info on these Schülers here: https://www.germanhuntingguns.com/archives/richard-schuler-and-the-august-schuler-co/Serbus, Raimey rse

Too I now see that A. Schuler does not use the umlat over the >>U<< as the August Gottlieb Schüler's do. Hence, there may be no relation @ all between the Schuler and Schüler's less something back 500 years or so??

Also, A. Schuler Waffen und Munitionsgschäft KG has the acronym >>KG<< as Kommanditgesellchaft or Limited Partnership in Austria, Belgium, Germany & Switzerland. Therefore, the >>KG<< will go a long ways explaining the association with a partner in Liège, Belgium.
Also the lack of us of the umlaut notes a capitulation of the use of German and a migration towards an English speaking clientele?

Anyway, with all that said and considering values in Canada as alien to me, I really do not know what value to attach to such an adorned hahn dreiling from Zella Sankt Blasii - Mehlis(Zella- Mehlis by 1927). Canvas-Back might have some idea?
There were few engravers in Zella-Mehlis and they tended to fall under a couple of schools of thought. Anschütz was one & Helfricht was another and of course there were just a few more.

Turns out the adornment / engraving more than likely is by a Suhl hand. Nothing special or spectacular, but average effort. For now, the hand cannot be identified.
