My buddy who bought the 2.5-in. 16-ga. Browning A5 is looking for factory duck loads. Am I right that there is no such thing? This is an old and full choked gun and steel would not be an option in my book, even if available. I figure he has to go to bismuth reloads, or use it only for turkeys with the biggest shot available, or open the choke and use it for upland hunting, or sell the gun. Thoughts? Thanks. TT

hey TT,
I have recently done a fairly extensive search for 16 gage 2.5 options. At this point I don't think there are any no-tox shells available. However, RST may be adding that to their line up. Over the next couple of months RST should be making their new paper hull 16 gage 2.5s available to the general public, and there are rumors of a new bismuth load. So I guess it is wait and see for now. PS... give me call tonight and I'll tell you about the 16 gage Greener.

TT, I have a couple cases each of short 10 ga and short 16 ga from RST if you need any.
Dustin, if you read this I have plenty 2.5 inch noble sport 12 ga. Still busy with harvest, grrr. Ross

kray: That's great news about RST and a short 16 bismuth load, if the rumours prove to be true. I'm looking forward to hearing about your new toy. Ross: Tell me more about both the 16 and 10 ga. stuff, and when the crops are in so you can become a "gentleman farmer" again. I just got back from a combined pheasant and duck hunt in the Panhandle. The ducks were pretty thick, but the pheasants made themselves scarce. The local farmers we were hunting with said there was too much corn still standing. By the way, you never answered my question about a duck hunt. TT

Except for occasional black powder shells I don't reload, but I did take a box of 16 gauge shells and I emptied the shot out of them and replaced it with bismuth shot. I used an old Lee Loader I bought on eBay to recrimp the shells and it worked fine. I also did the same thing with a box of Winchester Low recoil/low noise shells and a 12 gauge Lee Loader exchanging the #8 shot for #6 shot. Steve
