Can anyone recommend a period pad for a 1941 Remington 31 TC?

My guess is a medium red "White Line"

Would it say "Pachmayr"?

My gun is on the way.

Would anyone know how long the pad needed to be?

Thanks

Lou

Suggest you post your question on the Remington Board.

I would guess it would be a Hawkins, Jotsam, Noshoc or Mershon. My 1947 Stogers shows it with a Hawkins.

The period Remington catalogue pictures of Model 31TCs show a Hawkins with the heart-shaped vents.

Is that a red colored Hawkins?

At some point, Remington's access to Hawkins pads was cut off, probably during or after the war. A late Remington 31TC in the Remington museum appears to have a Mershon pad. I would assume that gun has never left the factory. I have even seen some late Remington Parkers with Mershon pads that appear to be original. I would presume that the red Hawkins with heart shaped perforations would be correct for a 1941 31TC.

In my 1940 Stoeger's, a Hawkins is specifically mentioned (and shown in the picture) with the Remington 31 TC.

Both my 1941 Stoegers and the June 10, 1941, Remington Dealer's Price List show the gun with the Hawkins pad with the heart-shaped vents and state Hawkins Pad in the text. Here is the listing from the June 10, 1941, Remington Dealer's Price List --

All the Remington paper I have from 1933 to 1949 pictures and states Hawkins pad for a Model 31TC.

Researcher, did the 31-TC come from the factory with "Remington" screened or otherwise imprinted on the butt stock, as shown in the ad?
