Anyone know anything about this maker? I googled the name and came up empty. I haven't checked it out yet, a friend notified me yesterday of it at one of the local gunshops. That was the name he said was on the barrels. Hammer gun-16x16x8x72r. I hope to check it out on Tuesday. Price sounds decent if it's in the condition he says it's in-$795.00.

Thanks for all replys.

8 x 72R ammo is impossible to find, can't even find factory brass. You'll have to form brass from 9.3 x 72R factory cases, still made by Norma, RWS, and S & B. Dies are in the $150 +- range. There's a good reason those drillings chambered for the 8 x 72R round seem "decent" in their pricing. Oh, bullets could also be an issue. Some 8 x 72R guns were bored .318, others .323. Good .318 bullets are hard to come by. Not impossible, though. If you can handle the ammo problems and the gun checks out otherwise, go for it, just be aware of the potential "issues."

Lets see, 'Grotesque und Sohn' 16x16-65mm/8x72, I haven't heard of less promising setup in quite some time.

Thanks Chief for the response. I've got enough 16 ga guns! It sounds as though that's essentially what this one would be without some major effort expended.
