Larry, Remington imports what most Americans buy.
Pic: the same IZН-43 Remington imports to US, but custom made.

Do you see any "soul" in the gun you posted a photo of, Geno? Reminds me of a comment I heard at Graceland-"You can spend lots of money, but, you can't buy good taste".
Larry actually hunts and shoots, and can see the value of the little French gun for exactly what it is, and what it was intended to be.
$500 would be a great price for it, by the way, if it were for sale.

Ted

There's more quality in the fitting of this French guns toplever screw (plus its set screw) than there is in that entire Russian POS that you posted a pic of Geno. When I saw the pic of that Russian gun, I puked in my mouth....just a little. The epitome of a polished turd. No doubt I'll lose a star or two by offering my humble opinion, but its the truth.

We are still waiting for all those gory pictures of the loose and blown Darnes Geno. I suspect we'll never seem them.

Whew, now back to brass tacks here....the pictured French gun while well used, seems to be at least one step up from "standard" field grade, just on engraving alone. The action is very nicely shaped & filed, its attractive. If it were my gun...the wood would get a refresh on the checkering and finish, followed by a barrel black, then it would get hunted and hunted alot.

Google up IZH-43 and you can puke on the floor, too. No doubt, Tony Galazon will be all over them for the "secret" of building a gun with "soul".

Why are you guys getting into a pissing match over what are only subjective opinions? I like French guns but if Geno thinks they're all POS so what, he has a right to his opinion. A friend used to have a really plain Russian hammer gun, Tula armory I believe, the story is that it was imported to the US by Sears in the late 60's or 70's. A nice well made gun I would have been glad to own if it had been for sale.

My sentiments exactly Geno regarding the likes of you. At least we can agree in this instance that we are both on the same page.

Have a nice day Geno.

Russkaya dusha. Russian poets and writers did a nice job talking about the Russian soul. The guns we get from there pretty much lack it. That might be why the last Tsar ordered guns like Parker and Lebeau-Courally.
