I shot a 100 round event at the US Open and a 50 round Five Stand last week at the Texas State with my Cashmore splinter foreend. I used the lightweight Bob Allen glove with a leather base. Although hot, I did not have any uncomfortable heat go through the glove. Open the action and let it breath between stations and you should not have a problem

Take it from a guy who's shot several one-man flurries with a Gripswell on the leading hand, splinter FE gun--that ad Pete posted from Gripswell is no BS. I've never felt the least bit of heat, putting over 50 rounds downrange in 2 1/2 minutes. On a summer day.

The steel leather covered handguard from Galazan works fine for me in late Spring, meaby hot barrels in Florida are somewhat hotter than here (34º Celcius at midday).

We were shooting driven red legs in Spain and one of the French guys used a ski glove on his left hand. Tres chic. Tres a la mode.

One word --- beavertail. I know the feeling, Jawja is the same. Yep. I never cared for condoms, no matter how artfully presented.

Splinters look waaaaaay better than beavertails, for the most part, but sometimes the old adage that "pretty is as pretty does" comes in to play. High volume shooting IS that time, IMO.
Works for me, anyway.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

I second the favorable results with the Gripswell side x side gloves. Can shoot when the barrels are smoking hot without discomfort.

I will put up with hot fingers to not have to look at a beaver tail forend, yuck! Gripswells or Mechanix gloves work great. Never had a problem when wearing either of them.
