Sounds like a great gun. Will you take $3750 cash for it?

Bill, altho I am the poster boy for The Society of Greater Fools, I do understand. I have an actual engineering stake out in the shed; if it isn't stamped Parker Bros. I miss my guess. I saw a Trojan yrs. ago in a shop in Strasburg OH; tag said it had been a "club gun" and by its appearance it must have been used exclusively in the that mode. 950$. I never would have dreamed I could find one this solid for less than 9C. OK, I did find some more pitting in the latter third of the right barrel but it fits and is solid and will make a good shooter and I like to shoot em. I've been lucky with "stove bolt" guns. My 450$ The Sterlingworth Co. pin gun has cleaner bores; not quite as nice wood.

I think I'll keep this one for a while. As I'm not particularly larcenous when I sell something I'll probably realize a few dollars. I've never lost money on any gun I sold including a horrible Utica SW which I bought for 299 and sold for 300.

Pix of the Trojan. I put the lace-on pad back on to get it out to 14-1/2".

I agree Paul. I loaded two boxes oz + eighth 9s in a PC post wad over 16.5 grains Nitro 100 and a couple pieces puffed wheat for the crimp (7200psi)this afternoon. I won't go straight at skeet but they'll open enuf to make it fun and there's always shooting the full barrel out of bounds. Dryfiring on snap caps, it has failed to cock the right barrel a couple of times but opened with authority (all the way) both hammers are cocking so I doubt if I'll run into mechanical problems. The one cocking rod must be worn a bit short and the other fine and cocking early before fully open. I noticed while waiting on the NICS that the trigger plate was standing out of the rabbet slightly. Thought there might be dirt in there but a couple taps with a wood-handled screwdriver seated it and I took a turn on the screws and looks fine. Funny how many old guns you see that have been worked on by someone who couldn't get a sewer cover flush with the pavement!

I bought a 90% cc Trojan 12-bore 20 years ago for $850, and still have it. It's a back-up gun for ducks, and my son uses it for pheasants when he comes home to IL from VA. I suppose it's worth $2,500 bucks, but, I guess, I'll die owning it.

To save airport hassle, I bought Ed Jr. a Trojan 12-bore at the Vintage Cup in '08 so he can practice in VA--$800--not in much cc condition, but good screws and all original, a nice shooter. Parker Trojans are my favorite grade.

I bought a nice NIB Trojan 12-bore from a dealer in 1995 for $2,000; sold it two or three years ago for $7,500...and the guy flipped it through Jim Julia's auction for $10,350 with buyer's juice, but net of seller's juice, insurance, and shipping probably lost money.

A Parker Trojan 12-bore will get the job done for $600 to $800. Everybody "needs" to get the job done if he's a shooter...all the rest is just "want." EDM

Agreed, but a Stevens 311 will get the job done for a lot less than that, if that's what you're after.
