This site was suggested to me as a possible way to try to find some information out about a custom rifle company called Winslow Arms. Internet searches reveal little except for a Field & Stream article with three paragraphs about the rifles. It indicates that there were several levels of rifles, all FN Mauser 98's, blued with a process no one has been able to duplicate and rifles were wood stocked with some of the fanciest and most intricate detail seen.
I have come across a rifle however that is an FN Mauser action with a Douglas barrel and Brown Precision stock that the seller claims is a Winslow Arms custom from a Hank Williams Jr. collection. The rifle has some sort of nickel or stainless coating on it and the barrel is stainless. The fit and finish is spectacular as is the price but it doesn't seem to fit the mold. Does anyone know anything about Winslow Arms or if they did custom rifles like this before they closed their doors? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Rifles made by Winslow Arms were stocked in an exaggerated California style stock, I seem to remember the stocks were not checkered, but had some kind of basket weave carving, The buttstocks had a large diamond inlaid. I remember them being listed in Guns Digest in the late 60s to early 70s. In spite of their unique stock pattern, the rifles were deadly accurate. They were too wild for my tastes. Gun writers, back then, had all sorts of things to say about.

If you were into tail fins, huge chrome bumpers and associated glitz then you were a candidate for a Winslow rifle! Jim

I don't know what, if any, info they have on older guns but they are still in business (or were within the last couple of weeks).

I.D.Johnson of Strawberry Point,Iowa used to sell them walnut by the semi-truck load and had a few of their rifles. Very garish but nice workmanship.
