Can someone please tell me the approximate value of a 40th anniv. Ducks Unlimited anniversity gun in NIB condition, unfired comes with great wood and a case also a 40th anniv. belt buckle.

It's hard to say, but I would guess in the $800 /$1000 range.
This gun is a Auction Model.
They were made in 1977. There was an Auction Model (1125 guns) and a Trade Model (there were 3999 serial numbers set aside, but not all were used for the DU 40th Trade model). Some frames in the serial range were used for Military and Police models. The Trade Model is likely worth about the same as a regular field model.

As a rule of thumb, most things produced and sold to be collectable, aren't. I think Don is being generous in his asessment of value.

Ted, I should have qualified that value as the value to a DU Commemorative Gun collector who needs one for his collection. If the gun is to be used the value goes back to that of a standard field gun.

As an Ithaca collector I would say that Don is in the ballpark. I sold my Trade model several months ago for $700. Not rare guns but they appear infrequently.

I just picked up an older Model 37, 16 gauge, 28" barrels. It is unfired with the original hang tags and duck plug still attached to the trigger guard by very old string.
Is it collectable or just a really nice shooter?

I consider it a collectable because of the original tag/plug arrangement. I would love to have a few photos of the tag and how the plug is attacked as this preservation is never seen. At least I have never seen it and I have been looking a long long time.

Walt,
I sent you a pm. I never know if those go through or not. If not, let me know by regular email (thuff@trarnold.com).

I have a friend who bought a DU Banquet model Browning Auto 5 in 12 ga some years ago. He keeps trying to sell for what he paid for it,too much, in an alcohol-induced auction fervour, and is really hurt that he never gets any response to his ads. I think the DU Banquet guns are worth what a regular gun is worth, as in no premium for the DU marking on the receiver. Mike

I can understand that for a Browning. Ithacas bring a small premium because they were Supreme grades with the DU logos and came with a few extras. I agree, the DU stuff does not add much value. JMHO.
