Uhhhhhhhhhh I dunno. It IS nice, but my Purdey Percussion double has a nice oak case (typical brass circle center, half of which is handle), a label every bit as nice as that one. Also, some "period" ink writing on the sides of the label with load infromation; beautiful penmanship, ink outta the bottle, gives a wonderful historic touch. It's green felt is lighter in color and probably thickness, and it's NOT covered in leather but still.........My 112 year old William Evans' case is leather covered, and the inside label is leather and the felt is good and thick, but red (if that's an aesthetic slight).

I do agree with obsessed-with-doubles. The "guts" of this case DO look new, maybe TOO new.
Old Doc I can't understand your post; are you saying a NEW case would be $6,000? I must be interpreting that wrong, the code being the FOB London, its meaning of which I have NO clue.

I suppose if your Scott is magnificent and valuable (money-wise), it would be worth it. Deeper waters than I swim in!!

Homie-

Is the interior of your case green?

All the early W & C Scott cases I've seen have been lined in red baize.

And I think the value is in the label. A case like that is not hard to find. An original W & C Scott label is, though.

That is the million dollar question. I'm surprised no one has researched the psychology of auction behavior. There has to be some primeval segment in certain folks' DNA that goes back to a time before creatures walked on land. This behavior is expressed today in various ways. It causes fish to strike a shiny lure and it makes people bid high prices for worn-out tractors prettied up with a fresh coat of Rustoleum. It also causes them to make early and high opening bids and often pay way over retail. If both parents posess this gene sequence, their progeny will be born without a brain.

A true sign of mental illness is any gun owner who would vote for an Anti-Gunner like Joe Biden.
