I just posted a rifle for sale on Gunbroker that was built by Hervey Lovell in the 1940s. There are about 25 pictures and a description of the rifle's history as I understand it. I'm not soliciting bids on the gun here. There should be enough interest for that on its own. I am posting this to share the historical value of the rifle with members here and I don't want to upload a ton of photos to photobucket that I've already loaded on gunbroker. There are also included in the photos scans of two letters written by Mr. Lovell. I may post the letters here, as I don't believe that I can read the handwriting on the gunbroker postings. Enjoy. Here is the auction: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=242316079

The tools are way more interesting that the gun, IMO, the rifle sure look like post war workmanship and styling. Can't read the letter...

Reading Landis' book on .22 varmint rifles 40+ years ago prompted me to buy my first HiWall, built by Lovell, in .22/3000 (which led to a similar one in R2 Lovell by Jerry Gebby).

I just heard that the reamer did not chamber this rifle or die and may or may not have been made by Lovell. I removed it from the ad. I'll give it to anyone for the cost of shipping.

Here are the letters in readable format. I think he's talking about High Wall actions. Also, is 22-3000 he refers to the same as the cartridge for which this rifle is chambered?
