I regret having to post this.
In mid-December Boxbirder (Mark Parrella) posted on the forum that he needed a Model 21 buttstock. I had an extra. We exchanged emails and photos of the stock and Mark agreed to buy it for $85 plus shipping. Mark said he needed it quickly and that he was sending a check. Relying on his word and his long presence on this forum, I mailed the stock on December 27 before I received his check.
Now, almost six weeks later, I am still waiting for Mark's check. I've called and emailed him repeatedly and I have received no response other than a voicemail that he had received the stock (I had told him that I was preparing to file an insurance claim with the USPS).
Be careful.
John

Guess he must not be winning at the Flyer shoots (or he's losing at the BIG poker games too or both). Can't even come up with $85 Bucks....gee whiz. If this happened for real I'd be a little more than pissed too.

Yuup-- my experience is a "penny ante' compared to yours, but I understand the frustration- When I first joined up on this website thingy- I had a spare copy (unsigned) of Terry Wieland's book "Spanish best' and sold it to someone in the Nutmegger State for $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping- like a dummy, I sent it "open-ended" before receiving the funds, and miss-placed his name and address. Never got the "dinero"-- But when I mentioned this to our Host- Dave regarding the $10.00 I owed him for the sale of such item on his website thingy- he was kind enough to give me a "pass"-- Now, I sell something- books, gun parts, whatever- I get the funds by certified check in hand first- Hey, I've got a signed copy of the Stephen Bodio second ed. I'd sell for that same $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping- you know, the one that has the Winchester Model 21 coming out on the market in 1941- lessee- was that just before the Germans bombed pearl Harbor, or the Italians ran Rick Blaine out of Casablanca???

Yeah, I've been taken too but I am a firm believer in the goodness of those with interests similar to mine and continue to send out stuff without first receiving payment.I've even done it on ebay and always got paid and they thanked me for trusting them.Of course,we're not talking any big ticket items here.I did get taken by a guy I knew in Wisconsin on some stuff 26 years ago,but I heard he was really ill so let it pass.

Be glad you guys are not in the mini storage business. Dishonest renters every month!

I have 3 units full of stuff and pay for them 2 months at a time so hopefully if something happens to me my heirs won't inherit a huge bill...or have my "treasures" dispersed at an auction.

That's a shame. I've had two guys send me shotguns without payment in hand, and I've sent a few books, etc. before payment arrived and have always gotten paid. Sorry to hear it doesn't always work, but I guess (sadly) I'm not surprised.

Buzz, Boxbirder claims he doesn't play the purse. Travels the free world pigeon circuit "just for the birds". If I did that, I wouldn't have a spare $85.00 either. If the Model 21 stock guy hears from him, he might suggest that Box start playing the money.
