In well over 20 years of selling several thousand tools for muzzleloaders and shipping before receiving funds I have only been stiffed twice--one by a lawyer in Kansas and the other by a woman shopping for her man at Christmas. I find people to be incredibly honorable, despite what the media would want us to think. And I've had several dealers who I didn't even know ship me rather pricy guns without any payment. I'm glad we can still operate this way. But it doesn't take many bad apples......

I've never had a problem. Usually deal with people I would like to do business with again, but most times it is a one time deal.

A few years back, I bought a pretty nice English sidelock from George Caswell at Champlin Arms. I faxed him an FFL and mailed him a check. Though he barely knew me, George shipped the gun before he got my check.

George is a straight shooter. Few years I bought a Ithaca Grade 2 16 gauge. After receipt and inspection I noticed the forearm had been repaired inside with wooden dowels to tighten it up. Called George and he immediately sent me the funds back, before he had received the gun.

George is amongst the best of the best! Period. And in describing a shotgun to a potential buyer he'll be a lot harder on it than I would if it were my own.

Bajajack, I am dismayed to hear of your problem with one of our own. Maybe there's an explanation that we'll see here, but whatever the outcome, you have my rspect for having the gumption to tell the tale and call the name. Thanks for the warning...Geo

Eightbore: If he's not playing the purse then he's not any good. I think he was the guy that told me he even goes to Portugal to shoot pigeons. Acted like he was some sort of big shot. And can't even come up with 85 bucks to pay a man for his Model 21 stock.....go figure. I suppose, however, he could be out of the country where he can't get messages and just spaced the $85. I guess only time will tell.

I figure the world has about 1% buttheads and I work hard to stay out of that category. It must be wearisome to get up everyday thinking the world is out to get you.
