He peddled some upper run sporting weapons. He was born in 1837 and is listed by some sources as the nephew of Heinrich Barella. Leue shacked up with Fritz Timpe for a time, then on to Greener of Birmingham till at least 1907, some 10 years after his passing, and maybe had a partnership with Knoll on the side. So it depends on which date range within which the sporting weapon falls.

1863 H. Leue & Timpe advert, concern was founded in 1860 note that the advert doesn't include the court supplier title

1867 Royal Warrant for Mecklenburg-Schwerin, the only one I've found so I'm curious if he touts it from here on out?

1877 advert

Heinrich Leue had at least one patent from March 1881(17381) and from 1887 to 1890 joined forces with Max Knoll:

By the early 1890s he had joined forces with W.W. Greener

1907 Advert

1863 advert, the earliest I've found of the Berlin address of Taubenstraße 9 where the concern opened a satellite office in 1860. H. Barella had another nephew named August Barella who along with H. Barella's son Max operated the Berlin & Frankfurt outlets. So I wonder if they also had a hand in the management of H. Leue?

"H. BARELLA HONIGL: PREUSSISCHER & KAISERL: RUSSISCHER HOFBUCHSENM: BERLIN" in Gold as well as a 17.0mm stamp on the tubes

Interesting that this 16 bore pinfire Barella fetched 20k U.S. of A. today, 5k below the 25-40 estimate.

Kind Regards,

Raimey
