I think that we all need to realize that all our problems didn't start 4 years ago,8,12,16 or even 20 years ago. This has been a long time coming and we are paying the price for things done by the government a long time ago and a general populace content to sit back and enjoy the life they have and not work to insure future generations had the same chances. We're not the only big, bad dog on the block anymore and we need to learn to co-exist and think outside the box.Probably never happen given human nature as it exists today.

Well now! There's some invective and slander you can sink your teeth into. The two faced hypocrite Gnomoron is back with a Sunday sermon.

It's too bad PA24 forgot to mention the huge drop in median income among those lucky enough to still have a job. Then add in the pain of high hidden inflation in the midst of a recession, and you've got a double whammy thanks to the historically proven failed socialist policies of Obama.

By inferring that PA24 must have an I.Q. below 35 for referring to the president as the Magic Negro, Gnomoron is saying that, clinically speaking, he must be either an Idiot (I.Q. of less than 25)or an Imbecile (I.Q. of 26-50). Very nice stuff coming from the guy who constantly lectures us on civility and avoiding name calling.

But this is what Gnomoron (and a few others here as well) does. By deceptivly hiding behind clever wording, they get away with being just as insulting as anyone who comes right out and makes a direct slam. Confront them on their hypocrisy, and they either change the subject to airplanes or something, or pretend to ignore you. This is how liars operate.

Anyone is free to choose to let Gnomoron get away with his lies and dishonesty. But I won't.

Bingo! This is exactly true - the real question might be "Is it really bad or just different?" The Dust Bowl following the Great Depression was really bad but now we have large safety nets in place. It is up to individuals to make proper use of them. People need to learn new skills that are in demand. Hod carriers aren't but skilled masons are.

We all do still have chances and our kids will too if we make sure they get a decent education. Let them think the earth is 6000 years old and they'll be living under a bridge. That's one reason so many of our graduate students in engineering are foreign.

This is mostly true RHD45. Real wages adjusted for inflation and the consumer price index have been declining for 30 years even as productivity has skyrocketed. Both parties have made glaring errors adjusting to a changing world and advancing technologies. Having 15 million illegals undermining wages didn't help either.

But I think it is the policies of the liberal Democrat mindset that has exacerbated the issues. We have thrown trillions of dollars at social welfare programs and education without any measureable improvement. But we never made any expectations of improvement. Instead, we reward failure.

This election may be the last chance we have to change course and get back on track. Even conservatives like Pat Buchanan have seen that the chickens of past mistakes by both parties have come to roost. But 4 more years of Obama may indeed put a stake through this country's heart.

The Democrats have largely succeeded in creating a dependant class that has been dumbed down and brainwashed to believe big lies. For as long as I can remember, we have been told that "the 'publicans are out to steal your social security and medicare." Yet Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush 43 didn't do it. But the Libs are trotting out the same old lie because a lot of folks are stupid enough to believe them.

Look at the current big lie... We are in this great recession because of the failed policies of Bush. Poor Obama needs more time to fix the mess that Bush left him. Really?

As I recall, we were entering a mild recession before Clinton left office. Bush tax cuts were helping to bring things back until the attacks of 911. The stock market and all of our investments took a major hit, but we started bouncing back and the DJIA rose to over 14,000 in Oct. of 2008, despite these "failed supply side policies."

Unfortunately, there was something else going on that the Democrats are conveniently forgetting.

Because of the mortgage lending standards that were loosened under Bill Clinton and due to Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, and numerous other liberal Democrats, millions of folks who never should have gotten mortgages were not paying back their loans and credit. Part of this is due to outsourcing and job losses created by years of stupid trade agreements negotiated by both parties, an educational system that did not keep up with changing technology, and a mindset that allowed people(and corporations) to expect bailouts and handouts, and let them walk away from contractual obligations. I blame both parties for all that.

So behind the scenes of a bull stock market was a mortgage meltdown and record numbers of bank failures. Giant insurers who insured these bad loans and investment companies who brokered bad bundled mortgages saw the house of cards finally collapse. It was Democrat policies that killed the economy. And George Bush was in no position to stop the runaway freight train wreck. Why? The Democrats who controlled Congress would never have changed a thing, because they were more interested in buying votes and getting re-elected.

Because Liberal Democrats are liars, they don't wish to recall all that. Blame Bush, blame Bush, blame Bush... because it works on a dumbed down populace that has become dependant on a nanny state.

But why, oh why, haven't the Republicans reached back 4 years and told the story of what led up to the Great Recession? It wasn't that long ago. I hope it's going to be told as an October Surprise. It's something we need to remind our friends and neighbors of right now!

All parties are to blame over the years.

Illegal immigration was allowed to accelerate for the last 50 years without proper "stiff" regulation. Originally allowed for the benefit of cheap farm labor and "now" other industrial labor, so now very much out of control.

Democrat Bill Clinton created the mortgage meltdown with his Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of November 12, 1999. This law REPEALED THE GLASS-STEAGALL ACT OF 1933 WHICH RESTRICTED COMMERCIAL BANKS AND INVESTMENT BANKS FROM CONSOLIDATING AND A HOST OF OTHER VERY DEFINITIVE BANKING REGULATIONS.

These banking laws had been in place for a very good reason and were put in place during the depression for the same reason that surfaced big time in 2005-2006......

The Democrats removed all these regulations allowing the investment and commercial banks to merge and consolidate mortgages.....then bundle and sell them to the Feds, knowing all along that most of them were a bad risk.......(not to worry, we can blame Bush for all this when it crashes, the dummies will believe it is all Bush's fault)

All of this so mortgage banking could develop a new customer base..."risk mortgages"....allowing people, as Keith mentioned, who could not and should not qualify for a car loan, let alone a mortgage to buy a property......but what the heck, the banks didn't care because they were going to sell the paper anyway.....BUT YOU KNOW WHAT...SOMEONE WOULD END UP HOLDING THE BAG....GUESS WHO...

Bush got all the blame from the screaming Dems and the under 35 I.Q. crowd who bought into the Dems line of B.S....guess what....CHANGE, CHANGE AND CHANGE SOLD LIKE HOT CAKES TO THE UNDER 35 I.Q. CROWD............So now we have the Magic Negro who has really destroyed our economy and the American employment base.......

No drilling on public lands like ANWAR or offshore to relieve the cost of fuel, which directly impacts the economy more than any other ONE single item........

I am sure that if the Republicans are elected this coming November, the first order of business will be to DRILL EVERYWHERE NOW.....putting millions to work, lowering prices at the retail level ON ALL GOODS straight across the board.....

Let's face it...this country MUST BE ENERGY INDEPENDENT....no dependance on foreign oil.....the Government should place permanent restrictions on foreign sales of domestic U.S. oil that will be drilled in places like ANWAR....it is estimated that we have in excess of 500 years worth of crude at our disposal on U.S. soil....if we don't piss it away.....

When we drill the foreign oil prices drop like a dove in September...but we must not stop drilling as we did before when OPEC drops the prices....We need the jobs and we need the oil.....simple.....

From the Department of Pesky Facts -Drill Baby Drill won't lower gas prices

"While increased oil and gas drilling in the United States may create good-paying jobs, reduce reliance on foreign oil and lower the trade deficit, it will have hardly any impact on gas and oil prices.

That's because the amount of extra oil that could be produced from more drilling in this country is tiny compared to what the world consumes.

Plus, any extra oil the country did produce would likely be quickly offset by a cut in OPEC production.

'This drill drill drill thing is tired,' said Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service, which calculates gas prices for the motorist organization AAA. 'It's a simplistic way of looking for a solution that doesn't exist.'"

The welfare state has produced millions of people who will never do a thing to better themselves. They are rapidly destroying their environment and taking everyone else with them. Snow geese are doing the same thing and they have extended the season and bag limit on them to save the fragile arctic ecosystem they nest in.I suppose it would be out of the question to practice a little eugenics on the herd.

From the department of even peskier facts, this is exactly what the country needs and the libs refuse to deliver. Just for the sake of complaining, who cares if pump gasoline is exactly the same price, aren't the other points a pretty good start.

The oil and gas that's pumped belongs to the oil companies.
Private enterprise.
If you think it's "ours" you're a communist.
I am a capitalist and I like the fact that the oil companies make a lot of money taking oil out of the US ground, selling it and giving me dividends.

Anything else is socialism or communism.

Sure is a lot of opinion and invective posted here concerning the economy and the current president's ability to keep America going. My two cents ain't worth much, but here it is.....
I won't vote for him because I do not trust him with my God-given right to own a firearm.
If Romney pulls any sh** like fast & furious and tries to cover it up with executive privilege, then I will vote against him next time.
I could list an additonal dollar's worth of two cents opinions, but it's unnecessary.....just re-read my first reason.
