My youngest Eagle Scout son Ross (he's 27 so no child anymore) and I traveled East this past Friday to visit Stan Hillis and take in some of the fine dove shooting that the area offers, especially so on Stan's little slice of heaven near Girard. As some of you know, Stan is the owner of a beautiful farm and primarily raises peanuts. It's a rare and fine place.

Stan is the very embodiment of a Southern Gentleman and he treated us like only those of his kind know how to do.

The shooting was over a 20 acre sunflower field and the shooting was just as I prefer; two's and threes at a time, the occasional single , all steady coming until we had limits.

Stan treated us to some fine food at Doe Doe's Sat. night, and we hit the road back to Mississippi all too soon Sun. morning.

Great weekend with a fine fellow shooter and double gun enthusiast. Could not have been better.

My pleasure to have ya'll, John. Nothing pleases me much more than being able to share a dove field with my grandsons and good friends. It ended too soon, indeed. Ross is a fine young man, Judy must have played a BIG role in that.

Now, back to the work of earning money to support our shooting habits, eh?
