The Williams&Powell business was established in 1834.At this date they aquired the business of Ann Patrick one of a very few female English gunmakers.
In 1834 the business was at 10 Pool Lane ,Liverpool.
by 1835 the number was changed to 12.
In 1837 amove was made to 13 South Castle Street,The Business was continued at #25 South Casle Street from 1839-1895.
Then yet another # change to #27 through 1905.Lapogus has already advised the more recent history.
Ann Patrick was making pistols of this type as early as 1830
I would estimate the date of manufacture as circa 1840.If engraved with makers address this would be the most acurate dating method.
Perhaps the best guide as to value is to view the results of the W.Keith Neal collection, which was sold at auction in London several years ago.

Can't see it in the pics, but I am guessing that the captive ramrod has a way to pivot from left to right barrel when in loading mode. Clever!

Used a single barrel officer's pistol of pretty similar design and caliber, a great experience. The captive ramrod once you get used to it eases loading.

Superb pair of pistols. The pair part is fascinating, as they are not of a type that would normally be made as a pair, ie duelling or target pistols.

Also the storage area in the grips for some sundry products that a traveler might need if something were to go wrong during his trip!!

Phil, do you have the case for these pistols and related paperwork or just the pistols?

See lot AH 3085,a similar pair double barrel pistols, but not in such good condition as yours; made by Ann Patrick whose business was aquired by Williams and Powell. These pistols are cased and priced at $4750

What a terrific pair of pistols, and in such wonderful condition. Any chance of knowing what size bore these are?

A truly great find, and they've generated yet another interesting thread.

Wowie. Something out of Commodore Hornblower.

The value to me when a young lad reading C.S. Forester would approximate a left gonad.

Great find!

Thanks for all of the feedback. Krakow the bores measure .490 as close as I can tell. Not sure what caliber this would make it.

Well then, they'd be .50's. Try shooting a .490 and/or .495 round ball with a .10 patch and see how they do.

Now I can't remember if you confirmed they were rifled or smooth. Either way, they'd shoot prb's and the accuracy out to 15 yards should be quite good.

Again, what a find! I love them.
