Looks like a Double Kersten Lockup? E. Schmidt & Habermann's Modell 580 was a Hammerless Bockbchsflinte, Modell Blitz with a single Kersten. The Modell 581 was an A&D Action Body as mentioned by Ford & a Kerner-Anson variant and it had the Double Kersten. So we are somewhere in that realm.
Kind Regards,

There's a thread around here somewhere in the Austrian/German section with some late 1930s ESHA(E. Schmidt & Haberman) serial numbers and that progression would aid in confirming ESHA as the maker w/ Paul Stadelmann at the helm.
Kind Regards,

Thanks again for the info, Raimey. Yes, it is a Double Kersten lockup. Is there anything else to look for to help further ID it?

What is on the buttplate? Probably just need to locate a few other ESHA examples from the late 1930s.
Kind Regards,

The buttplate is just a plain checkered one. It's made of horn.

It looks like we may have our answer then. The serial numbers seem to line up. Thank you again for all the information!

Below is a W. Brenneke peddled drilling(Nr. 43483?) more than likely made by E. Schmidt & Habermann as they were the main source, if not the source for Brenneke's wares. Lancaster makes a capital effort to post images on NE: http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=187167&Main=183020 Nr. 43483? Note adornment inside horn triggerguard bow Proof date of May 1938 I'm sure the same trademark can be found on the left side of the aft lug Kind Regards, Raimey rse
