"I pointed out that the court’s decision was unique in the extent to which the court had exacted a heavy toll “in terms of state sovereignty"
Only when it serves in the best interests of the Federal government and then only on a case by case basis.

i like stevens interpretation that one of the purposes of the second amendment was to provide protection to the states and to the people from invasion or threat by armed federal government agents...

Interestingly enough, the number of accidental poisoning deaths exceeds the total number of firearms deaths (as well as auto accident deaths), yet there is no concerted effort to combat that problem. That would kind of make you think that there just might be some political reason for all the emphasis placed on gun control.
Firearms deaths/100,000 for 2014 5.2 Unintentional poisoning deaths/100,000 11.6
Source centers for Disease control.

I don't believe facts will matter to the left wing agenda.
A quote right out of the middle of the piece on upholding gun rights says, "I dissented in both of those cases and remain convinced that both decisions misinterpreted the law and were profoundly unwise. Public policies concerning gun control should be decided by voters' elected representatives, not by federal judges".
Interesting how he rules on feelings, and reinforces the concept of the executive order. Probably right up until he doesn't like the decisions of elected Republicans, just as he's shown with a long justification article about towing the line.

jc: there have been government efforts to mimimize poison related deaths, auto related deaths and gun related deaths...its just that the media likes to talk about gun related deaths. so, that is what we hear most about. certainly there is an anti gun agenda perpertrated by the media.

Then there is the anti-gun agenda being pushed by ed good and his hero Bloomberg.

In this article the traitor finally freely admits that he wants to rewrite the constitution.
I'm betting the transcript of his conformation testimony shows no such thing.
Ironically, in Gore vs. Bush he laments the lack of public trust in the judicial system.
The 'legislative decisions' he speaks of were prohibited when Article 2 was adopted.
Stevens is just another liberal idiot who can't read plain text.

Humm- Oh Craigster, towing the line- perhaps as seen by the Quasimodo-ish character Lemuel in my favorite of all Clint Eastwood's Western theme movies, "The Outlaw Josie Wales" ie: The Missourah boat ride event-- I think you meant to say- "Toeing the line"- like the line in the 1970's druggie song "One toe over the line, sweet Jesus, one toe over the line" Alas!~!
