I wish I knew who CHM was. The rifle seems to be from 1924, but it is not found in the G and H records. This pic is from a different photo handling website.

The Springfield was never meant to be a sporting rifle, but G&H made it work. Not much on the carving, but wonderful engraving. Nice old '03 Sporter.

John, thanks for your thoughts. I have always loved carving and engraving. Just a matter of taste. We think Fred Adolph did the stocking during his year or so in New York. Kornbrath did the engraving. The gun is a 30-06 with a 20" barrel, highly engraved grip cap and a trap door metal butt plate. Obviously ordered by someone with a good idea of what they liked and the money to get it.
