According to an article in todays Chicago Tribune Shuan Kranish, 21, modified his holster so that no part of his 9mm handgun was visible and placed the clip on the other side of the holster and went wandering through Cherry Valley Mall near Rockford, IL. He was arrested and charged with "aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a felony." The Trib reported that "earlier this week, a Winnebago County judge dismissed the charge in a ruling that gun advocates hailed as a victory for 2nd Amendment rights".
"Cherry Valley Police Chief Gary Maitland disagrees with the judge's ruling. This is not the Old West, he said." Gun Control Advocates were not happy with the ruling. They want the states legislature to review the law that allows the transport of weapons as long as they are "unloaded and enclosed in a case, firearm-carrying box, shipping box or other container by a person who has been issued a currently valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card".
