I disassembled my Fulton, and a part called the Trip fell out. I am not sure which direction it goes back in. Unbelievably, it fell out, but seems to be impossible to reinsert. Anybody out there have experience with the Fulton? It is different than it's higher end sibling, the LC Smith. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a Fulton box lock or side lock? If it is a side lock, the rotary bolt holds it in place. There is a spring below it. The notch faces towards the breech and when the top lever is released by the closing of the gun, the rotary bolt which is attached to the top lever by a coupler which will move the trip downward causing the barrel to close on the receiver and bring the top lever to center.
Make sure you put the pin at the end of the coupler in the rotary bolt correctly or else you will not get the top lever to move smoothly and will jam.

There is no Hunter Fulton sidelock, and the Fulton lacks the rotary bolt. Hunter Arms made another boxlock, the Hunter Special, which did have a rotary bolt.

Some call the side lock a Fulton because of the town. Type in Fulton shotgun on Gun Broker and see how many side locks show up. Hunter Arms made a few different Fulton box locks. To get the search right for the box lock you have to type in The Fulton or Hunter Special.

It is a box lock. I'm just at a loss on how this piece goes back in. It is called the "trip" on the Numrich parts diagram.

Some call the side lock a Fulton because of the town. Never heard of that. The only sidelock Hunter Arms made was the L. C. Smith.

Hunter made only two boxlock guns: The Fulton and the Hunter Special. There was also a Fulton Special (not to be confused with the Hunter Special, which was a different gun with the rotary bolt, which the Fulton didn't have.) But it was the same gun as the Fulton with a bit more "bling". Hunter did make a number of Fultons for Sears and other retailers, but the only difference in those guns was the name: Ranger, for example, on the guns they made for Sears.
It certainly was not Hunter that referred to any sidelock guns as "Fulton". From Hunter's 1921 catalog: "The 'Fulton' and the 'Fulton Special' guns are made to meet the demand for low-priced shotguns carrying our name and guaranty. They are reliable box frame guns capable of the most satisfactory shooting results. In finish, style and balance both out-rank their price. The 'Fulton Special' is the finer of the two in decoration."

Larry, I hate to bring this back up again but this is just one example of what I meant in my replay to treeman. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/796137054I think I know enough about all L.C. Smith's from Syracuse to Fulton including the hammer guns to have asked him that question as not all people do.

Treeman, if it is the one with the rotary bolt, the sprin and trip go in from the top, press it down and slide the rotary bolt. The other probably goes in from the bottom. Send a PM if you have any more questions.

Smith's from Syracuse to Fulton including the hammer guns to have asked him that question as not all people do. What "all people" need to be aware of isn't what some individual seller called his Hunter Arms shotgun, but what Hunter Arms called it. That's simply an LC Smith Ideal Grade. "Fulton" was expressly reserved, by them--per the quote I provided--for their inexpensive boxlock. Attaching Fulton to an LC sidelock only serves to confuse.

FYI they call it the L C Smith collectors association, not the Fulton Arms collectors.
