Ken,
404 ammo has been recently available, I believe from Hornady and I think Huntington's may still carry RWS and maybe Norma( who may actually make Hornady's).

Graf & Sons list two brands, Hornady and Norma. However, they show only one box of Hornady in stock.

Ken,
Check Graf's in the "reloading supplies" section, they also sell brass, as does Buffalo Arms.

Norma, Swift, Hornady and, I believe, RWS offer loaded ammunition for the .404J. I like this cartridge a lot and I am having a rifle built in the caliber.

Who's doing the build and on what action?

Fire forming the cases for the .416 Dakota was pretty easy. Run the .404 case through the Dakota sizing die. Expand the neck, seat a cast bullet over 20 grains of H-108, and fire formed a nice crisp shoulder. Trim to length. I uniformed the primer pockets as they were unusually tight. All good.

RR -- The rifle is being built on a LH Granite Mountain double square bridge magnum length Mauser. But we have ordered a small ring action with G33/40 style lightening cuts. It will have a hollow bolt knob like the pre -64 Super-grade Model 70s. Barrel is a PacNor Stock premnium match of 23". The stock will be cut from a nice French blank I have been hoarding since the mid-80s.Target weight is 9-1/2 lbs.
