Such sad news is hard to read.

I wish there were magic words to erase the pain, but we know there are not. The only thing I can suggest is that you never truly lose him as long as you have the memories. They are everything.
Good luck to you.

I miss my English Pointer Jake the same, He was a constant companion and a great birddog. Slept in the bedroom with us. Walked with us and rode in our cart with us, may times with my arm around him. I was in tears when I buried him and still think of him often.

So sad to hear of your loss of a friend. I know the feeling that you are enduring at this very moment. I lost my best friend Bogie just over three years ago. I scattered his ashes in the area of one of his most spectacular run downs / retrieves where we hunt in South Dakota. He is still with me every time I hunt that area now and I have never and will never forget the good times we had together. At least you have those memories. Cherish them.

I have made tombstones for dogs. It's tough.

New pup is the only immediate consolation.

Thank you Fellows, it's hard to explain this experience to most people. I knew you would get it.

I did like the Tinkhamtown story, even though I hope I am not quite there yet.

Unfortunately, the breeder is not responding. Of course, I cannot expect people to keep doing the same things for 15 years plus...

I'll have to look further.
Eddy's full name was Prince Edward O'Dee, from the O'Dee line.
Super gentle, incredibly tough and birdy.
It will be hard to find a similar dog...

Best regards,
WC-

I did find a few pictures of Eddy at work.

Doing emails:

Or doing a design review:

Or being Eddy:

The breeder called me back. More to come.

Best regards,
