To The Double Gun Community -- I would appreciate your help in my attempt to identify the maker of this -- Side x Side Shotgun Cutaway -- As you can see it is a high quality working model that is missing the short cutaway barrel section that would make it complete - Important Note !! -- Look close and you will see one side of the frame is Scalloped and the other side is Striaght !! - I believe it is German -- possibly -- Sauer or Prussian Daley -- I need a set of barrels that will mount this gun or a set of barrels that could be made to fit and operate it -- they should be nice clean tubes that can be fitted and cut off aprox 2'' past the forearm -- there should be a small section cutaway in both tubes showing the forcing cones ( The reason I think both tubes is so the gun could not be called a -Sawed Off Shotgun ) If you think that you may have a barrel that could work I can send all important dimensions -- Also -- If there is a Skilled Gun Smith out there that would like to take on a fun project please let me know - Thank You -- Rick -- Note - The only marks on this cutaway is a small -- A W on the water table

What is the text on the safety? Any marks anywhere? The blade indicator is that of Sauer if I remember correctly. I assume this is all the components of which you are a custodian?

Overhanging & intercepting scears on the left & only lower scears on the right.

It has a "Sauer-ish" look to me too.

The only mark on the gun is a small AW on the water table -- it reads -- SAFE -- above the thumb push -- Yes this is my gun -- Thank You -- Rick

I believe that the action is a Schnitt of a Modell Nr. 14(overhanging scear) & say a Modell Nr. 175 of a lower intercepting scear. The English letter "SAFE" would point to a Sauer destined for an English speaking client/destination and if memory serves me, AW is seen on the water-table of Sauer examples as the AW mechanic must have been an actioner.

Sauer sought protection for their novel idea of a Clock-Hand indicator under DRGM Nr. 17193 while the Blade Indicator or "Cock-Lock" indicator found protection under DRGM Nr. 130243( DRGM/Gebrauchsmuster Nr. 130,243(signalwellen für kipplaufgewehre /Spannanzeiger).

From the above, I would say it is a Sauer Schnitt displaying their Anson & Deeley Body Action & possibly used by Schoverling, Daly & Gales as a display if you acquired the piece in the U.S. of A. If it is a war trophy, them some other English speaking spot of land.

You know, the marks on the standing breech on the strikers shows that a tubeset was paired with it @ some point.

Thank You -- For all this great Info -- I thought I should post some photos with some dimensions -- Maybe someone has a barrel that would mount up -- Thank you -- Rick http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1309/13781133/24830286/414152348.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1309/13781133/24830286/414152349.jpg

A note in passing is that the typical run of the mill German A&D Body action measures 48mm from the standing breech to the hingepin. Lindner - Daly A&D Body actions measure 56mm while Lindner sidelocks measure 62mm. So it is not a Lindner-Daly, but I would say a Sauer.

Interesting gun! While I certainly understand the Sauer/Lindner feel (e.g., carving of the fences, single, asymmetrical arcaded action, etc.), I noted that it does not have cocking indicators expected on a Lindner gun.

Did you acquire it in the States?

Ken
