Dan was nice enough to take some pictures of magazines from his
Sedgleys with unusual chamberings







From left to right, magazines modified for the 22 Hornet, 2 R Lovell,
25-35 and 300 H&H

I also have a 405 Winch which they worked on the bottom of the receiver to make it feed correctly but no magazine changes. I have another 300 H&H which has a different modification to lengthen but I haven't found it yet, not with the other Sedgleys.

Have you posted pictures of the .405 previously? that sounds like a very interesting rifle!

A couple observations: The way Sedgley modified the Springfield magazine for the 22 Hornet seems very like what Winchester did to their Model 70. Did they just copy Sedgley or was it the other way around? When it comes to left-hand conversions Sedgley seems to have done exactly as G&H did? Who lead? It would be interesting to know what interaction existed an among these three.

I don't know when Winch started building their Hornets but Sedgley listed their Hornet in the early 1930 catalog and patented their Hornet on an '03 action on 3-22-1932. They also listed their LH conversion in the early 1930 catalog but I have never seen an ad for G&H LH rifle. We do know that Sedgley bought their barrels from Winchester, they only state they used the original '03 barrels in the 1930 catalog, after that they state they used barrels made specially for Sedgley by Winch.

I don't think that I have posted photos of the 405 but other than the caliber it just looks like any other standard Sedgley. If you want I can take some photos.
