Hello, I purchased a Miroku B.C. My Luck Model M SxS 12G here in Okinawa Japan but cannot find any information on it. Trying to find the year of manufacture and any websites/dealers that may carry any parts for them.

Thanks

Matt

Hey, Larry, there is your gun!

Our own Larry Brown owned a model M, that he told me he never should have sold. I can't help you much with the specifics about your gun, but, the Japanese guns seem to have a reputation for durability.

Have a safe tour-when are you due home?

Best,
Ted

Not quite my gun . . . but darned near a twin, except mine was marked Miroku and not My Luck. About all I can tell you, other than you have a very good, solid, basic double, is that anything marked My Luck is older than stuff marked Miroku. Miroku, in fact, is the Japanese-ized version of "My Luck". They changed the name when they found that My Luck didn't go over very well. But I don't know when the name was changed. One catalog I have, dating from 1964, lists Miroku under that name--which would lead me to guess they made the change from My Luck some time before that.

Miroku-made guns--a lot more over and unders than sxs--were imported to the States under the Charles Daly name. But that stopped over 30 years ago, when Browning struck a deal with Miroku to make side by sides (the BSS) and OU's (Citori) for them. But even the Browning sxs have been out of production for a long time. Parts . . . quite possible you'll never need any. But if something like a spring breaks, unless you find a gunsmith who has parts on hand for either BSS or Daly doubles--and assuming the part would interchange--you'd probably end up needing the part made from scratch. Most likely would be a spring, and they're not outrageously expensive to make.

Like Ted said, wish I'd never parted company with my Model M. Never had any problems with it.

Hello Marine6591
Thank you for your service!

Welcome on your first posting

I would try

http://www.wisnersinc.com/shotguns/miroku_moss.html

or possibly Art's

http://artsgunshop.com/

Does the gun have missing or broken parts or are you just checking?

Mike

Hi Matt,

First, I second skeettx's remark on your service! Thank you!!

Second, I too welcome you to the board!

Third, you have purchased a very well made gun(!) & you will likely find any hard information is just that .. hard to come by.

To the best of my knowledge all 'My Lucks' have chopper lump barrels and were very well fitted. What are the specifics on your gun, i.e., bbl. length, chokes, trigger(s), ejector or extractor, pistol grip, splinter forearm or semi beavertail, &c?

From what I can tell, all 'My Lucks', model "M's", model 52's [Roman numeral model designation] and some model 500's are essentially the same guns w/some variation on the stocks & forearms. I too would like to find a definitive history of these guns and when they went from chopper lump bbls. to monoblocs. I've friends in Japan, citizens, who have drawn the same blank about that information, but never say never. Should you be so fortunate as to get some solid information there, I'd hope you will share it w/the rest of us.

Meantime,
Good shooting!

Thank you all for the comments, just doing my job.

Are you all able to view the pics? Want to make sure I did it right.

Appreciate all the help. Unfortunately I can't shoot it here so I have sent it back home to the US for storage until I come back. June of 2015 or 2016 depends on what HQ want to do with me.

No broken parts, but just wanted to find out more on it. Been Googling the heck out of it with not much information. 28" barrel with and overall length of 44". double trigger.

I belong to the rod and gun club here and have been able to collect several shotguns for a good deal. Miroku M2800 O/U, SKB M700 O/U, SKB M300 SxS and an FN A1 (Browning Superposed) O/U. All 12Ga. Look forward to more posts about those guns and talking with all of you.

Matt,

Your pics are fine, I should have looked first. Actually going to any one of them will let you scroll thru the slide show.

That choking of Improved Cylinder & Full is fairly normal as is your stock configuration, &c. from what I have seen of those guns.

Sounds like you are doing just fine on the acquisition front! Hope that you get many hours of pleasure afield &/or on targets w/them on your return.

My model M also had somewhat unusual choking--but nice for a pheasant gun: IC/IM.

Just to piggyback on the discussion of old Mirokus, I ran across this one today and wasn't sure what it was: http://www.gunsinternational.com/BC-Miroku-SXS-Shotgun-12ga.cfm?gun_id=100465024

Looks like maybe a German action (Sauer?) with Japanese engraving?

Anyone know anything about it?

Looks like a really nice gun. Is that a dent or ding in the right chamber area?

Wrong pictures in that listing... The description does not match. And that is definitely not a Miroku
