I'm in the planning stages of my fall trip to New York to see my dad. He lives in the North Country, St. Lawrence County to be exact but we are thinking seriously about flying into Philadelphia and driving up to Benton for some time with Woodcock Hill for a try gun session and some instruction, then onto Dad's for a visit and some grouse and duck hunting. My question for you gentlemen; is there any issue with flying into PA and specifically Philadelphia with a couple of my doubles. I always fly Alaska because of the deals we can get and they fly into Philly. I don't want to get crosswise of local LE or unknowingly violate any state laws. I've traveled from Alaska to Syracuse, NY and to Walla Walla, WA with them but never PA. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Marty

Why not ship your guns ahead to Woodcock Hill and avoid all the hassle with the airlines?

That's a possibility. I did that on one trip to my Dad's. Thanks for the reminder.

I'd choose to ship to Woodcock Hill, personally. Philly laws in general aren't too prohibitive, but the airport is always a gamble.

You'll have no problems in PA. Just follow the procedures you normally do when flying with guns. They call it Pennsyl-TUCKY for a reason.

Mr. Treblig is quite correct. I've flown in and out of Pittsburgh several times with guns without any issues. Philly shouldn't be much different. Heck, I flew out of Baltimore last summer with a gun I purchased (unexpectedly) on the Maryland shore. When you consider all the racial & riot-issues they had there last year (& I did) I sort-of expected some problems. I really had nothing significant (well.... the first check-in attendant I encountered had a mild hissy and made me wait until 2-hours before boarding to check it in, which I did 20-minutes later with no problems).
