Great game, did you note the USA cheer just before the game.

A great event preceded the victory. We got rid of Les Miles then hired coach O.

Witnessing President Trump and First Lady Melania's rousing welcome, all knew straight away the game wasn't played in San Francisco or NYC. La is a red state with a Red governor.

The best part of the game was watching Nick Sabin sitting in the announcers' booth. There was one shot of him on the sideline after the game appearing as though he just had a ground glass enema. I was stricken with schadenfreude.

Clemson should not have been there. I hate Ohio State, but the officiating in the Clemson-Ohio State game was some of the worst I've ever seen.

That said, I don't think Ohio State would have beaten LSU, although the score may have been closer.

Agree with James Flynn about President Trump and the First Lady, and about lack of sympathy for Nick Sabin.

James,
Don't forget, Nick Sabin also won National Championships at LSU.
War Eagle( but still SEC).

Agree with almost everything you said, including the outstanding hometown hire of Coach O.

The other great event before the game happened at 11:30am at the state capital, when our pro-gun, pro-life, pro-Louisiana, West Point grad (but blue) Governor John Bel Edwards was sworn in for a second term.
I was a part of the rain soaked crowd.

JBE remains the only Democrat I've ever voted for. And I was proud to do it.

It was a great day for the Bayou State... In New Orleans, Baton Rouge and every where else.

I would have liked to have seen a closer game. I think the play calling from the Clemson bench went into panic mode in the third quarter when there was still plenty of game to be played. They scored well enough to be competitive, Clemson could have used a few first downs in the second half to keep their D off of the field, and probably sharper.

Der Ami, I well remember Sabin coaching LSU to the championship. Then he hauled ass. Wir denken dass er ein verraeter ist. Sabin and Miles were most similar to Reagan and HW Bush. The predecessors turned over the store to their replacements then the FNG's promptly ran the store broke.

Woodreaux, Jayzabell is not pro life. The first thing he did was undo one of the very few good things Bobby Jindall accomplished, he reinstated funding for Planned Mass Murderhood.

Being a democrat and saying one is pro-life is like being a Nazi but stating opposition to that part about murdering Jews. Being a democrat and opposing abortion is schizophrenic. Abortion is a sacrament for the democrats and is one their most important requirements for social engineering.

When the democrats present their pro-death, anti free-enterprise, anti-second amendment, and communistic candidate, Jayzabell will support and vote for him.

I digress; Geaux Tigers!

Craig,
The close game was Auburn/LSU, LSU beat Auburn by less than they beat Alabama and that was a close game too( BTW Auburn also beat Alabama). The trouble with playing football in the SEC is you have to play all "them" SEC teams.

We're not going to agree on Louisiana politics. But we can agree on Louisiana sports, so that's good enough.

I was mostly responding to your saying that we have a red Governor, which confused me, particularly when the inauguration and the game were on the same day.

In fact we are a deep Red State with an (atypical) Blue Governor.

Was there a football game somewhere?
Posted By: Woodreaux Re: National championship game - 01/15/20 02:36 PM
Both of those games were hard fought, although the Alabama game was completely one sided until half time.

Like most LSU fans, I was an Auburn Tigers fan for the Iron Bowl. Partly because I was dreading another Alabama rematch for LSU (as in 2011), partly because of Saban's comments about Auburn being the toughest opponent AL would face all season, and partly because I just like seeing Alabama lose.

In fact, Auburn is a team I'll always pull for unless they're playing LSU or Vandy.

Yes, but it was a long, long way from WA/AK.

Ooops, tough crowd here. A couple years back, I was an Auburn fan, but only because Central Florida sent ‘em home to cap an undefeated season. I can’t say UCF has the big, long traditions, but we had a relative down in the area.

I hear you folks on how tough the SEC is, but I’m not overly broken up about Alabama’s season. Money, money, money, must have been hell to pay in those private alumni/booster dinners.

Woodreaux,

You are a gentleman and a scholar so I agree to disagree.

As a Bama fan, I was cheering for LSU. Didn't want to see Clemson win another one and also wanted to see the title go back to it's rightful home, the SEC West! It was also heart warming to watch Little 10 teams lose in those bowl games. Made everything right in the universe. Nick will have his boys ready for another title run. Might have been a better result for The Tide if Tua didn't have an early end to his season, but that's what happens in a violent sport. 8 more months and we can start watching all over again!! ROLL TIDE!!

James, it's nice you can speak and write a foreign language. If you'd stop around my club, up in the shotgun room we'd all pat you on the back once we found out. But maybe here you could keep it to English so all of us uneducated poor folk could understand what you're trying to say. Thanks - Paul

It probably would have been, but just based on his athleticism. I think you folk are better off that he’s headed for the draft, I don’t think he has elite level smarts for his position. Bama ‘invested’ in his younger brother back a couple years as a high schooler, hope that pans out.

Paul, French is not a foreign language in Louisiana although it seems LA is a foreign country in the US, perhaps as German used to be in PA. Laissez le bon temps rouler is our state motto and it just means "let the good times roll."

While working at a local sporting goods store many years ago, I sold a gun to a Cajun, a Frenchman that is, from Avoyelles Parish. We have parishes instead of counties, by the way. When he came to the question about being an illegal alien, he answered "yes." He was probably just a dumbass but he might have thought he was from a foreign country.

They have his brother, Taulia and Mack Jones back. They just signed the #1 rated HS quarterback too. It'll be interesting, that's for sure.
