Would like to ask if anyone has any info on such guns? The specific gun in question is relatively new, cir 1982. It's a 12x12/9.3x74R, with 70mm shot chambers. The rifle is cocked by pushing forward a large tang mounted button, like you see on Kreighoff's. Barrel is marked "Hubertus" and " Made in GDR", which I'll assume means German Democratic Republic aka East Germany. It also has a claw mounted 6x Kahles scope. Double underlugs w/Greener cross bolt. Front trigger is a set type. I don't even know if "Hubertus" is a model or a maker? Any general info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hubertus was a German manufacturer of rifles, combination guns and drillings and I believe are no longer in business. The 9.3X74R is a rimmed cartridge which is very close to a .375H&H. The 6 X Kahles is a top of the line German scope.
You may wish to contact the German Gun Collectors Assoc for more information at http://www.germanguns.com, Email: jaeger@valley.net and
phone 603-469-3438.

I believe that you also can purchase a reprint of Hubertus literature through the above association. I hope this helps.

First off, I am not an expert, but I believe that "Hubertus" is not a maker, but rather was a brand moniker used by the maker Imman Meffert. Meffert made some good stuff, and was heavily involved in the development of dural framed combo guns. If this is wrong, somebody will correct me. mike

I believe there were soviet co-operative Hubertus in GDR just before Germany became consolidated. It was out of business aprx a decade ago.
